THANK YOU Without your support, ObamaCare may have passed this week. RNC Chairman Michael Steele may have just earned his last name and our highest respect. He bravely called out the nausiating strategy of some Senate Operatives when he said... "I have heard Republican political operatives say that it will be good for our Party next November if the Democrats pass this bill. They note that the bill is unpopular with Independents, suburban voters, and senior citizens. They say that the voters will run them out of office for it," he writes. "That may be, but we cannot take that approach. Some things are more important than politics. This is one of those times. Please do everything you can to stop this bill ... before it is too late." (National Journal Hotline, Dec 10, 2009) YOU, the American People are changing the course of history. A government takeover of healthcare was all but inevitable—on the fast track to passage in the U.S. Senate; and YOU, the American People sent a resounding message to Republican Senators—the last line of defense against a government takeover of healthcare—who were actually facilitating passage of the Reid Bill before year’s end: STOP! DO NOT ALLOW THIS MONSTROSITY TO PASS THE SENATE! YOU, the American People, responded to the call from Social Security Institute and Tea Party Support to fax thousands of letters to Republican Senators telling them: DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO TO DEFEAT THE REID BILL, INCLUDING FILIBUSTERING EACH AND EVERY AMENDMENT THE DEMOCRATS TRY TO JAM THROUGH THE SENATE ON THE FAST TRACK. NO UNANIMOUS CONSENT. DO NOT PROVIDE THE VOTES NECESSARY TO HELP AMEND THE REID BILL TO MAKE IT ACCEPTABLE TO 58 DEMOCRATS AND BOTH INDEPENDENT SENATORS. YOU, the American People faxed thousands of letters to Republican Senators telling them to stand with Senator Jim DeMint and JUST OBJECT to what was going on in the Senate. YOU, the American People insisted that Republican Senators not put Christmas Vacation and political expediency ahead of their country. THEY, Republican Senators were not listening; but OTHER CONSERVATIVE LEADERS were listening. Rush Limbaugh, heard your voice and amplified it through his mighty EIB microphone to assault the ears of the Republican Senate Leadership. He challenged the GOP Leadership’s self-serving strategy of “messaging”—standing aside as Democrats pushed one amendment after another through the Senate. Rush provided YOU, the American People a platform from which to OBJECT to the unseemly complicity of Republicans as they stood aside allowing the Reid Bill to pass the Senate before Christmas. Rush exposed the GOP “messaging strategy” for what it was—a reelection strategy for Republican Senators NOT a strategy to defeat the Reid Bill and prevent a government takeover of healthcare. STOP! DO NOT ALLOW THIS MONSTROSITY TO PASS THE SENATE! YOU, the American People demanded STRATEGIC votes by Republican Senators to defeat the Reid Bill, NOT MESSAGING votes to establish a voting record for Republican Senators to use during their next reelection campaign. “Messaging not legislating” is a great strategy if the objective is to get reelected; it is a horrible strategy if the objective is to stop a government takeover of healthcare. Here is Limbaugh as he challenged the staff of the Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell(Ky.), on his radio show: “It's clear that the Senate Republican leadership doesn't know how to deal with this in the health care fight. The Senate Republican leadership strategy here was flawed because it allowed the Democrats to take the offensive, buy time to work out a deal. I know a disaster when I see it. And I know that it’s gotta be stopped, and whatever parliamentary steps are available to people ... should have been taken.” Now, Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele has waded in with a Strategy Memo to Republican Senators: "I urge everyone to spend every bit of capital and energy you have to stop this health care reform. The Democrats have accused us of trying to delay, stall, slow down and stop this bill. They are right. We do want to delay, stall, slow down and ultimately stop them from experimenting on our nation's health care. And guess what, so do a majority of Americans." STOP! DO NOT ALLOW THIS MONSTROSITY TO PASS THE SENATE! Senator Jim DeMint (S.C.) summed up the problem with the Republican Leadership in the Senate: "I need some new [Senate] Republicans, people who believe in constitutional government, a balanced budget and liberty. The problem here in the Republican Party is not that our base has gone to the right. The problem in the Republican Party is that the leadership has gone to the left and the Tea Parties and the Republicans out across the country are right there where American principles have always been and I'm trying to pull the party back to the mainstream of where America really is. " YOU, the American People have put the RINOS (Republican In Name Only) on notice: STOP ObamaCare or the American People are going big game hunting for RINOs in the next election. You, the American People have broken through the center of the stonewall behind which both parties were working together in the Senate to lay down a fast track to a government takeover of healthcare. Don’t hesitate; do not go wobbly now. Pour reinforcements into the breach. Encircle Republican Leaders and demand they allow Republican foot soldiers to stop messaging and start legislating. In the words of Michael Steele, delay, stall, slow down and stop the Reid Bill and Kill ObamaCare. STOP! DO NOT ALLOW THIS MONSTROSITY TO PASS THE SENATE! Defend America, Lawrence A.
